Austin Hullett III has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, among other things, for a southeast Nashville crash yesterday. According to the police,
The preliminary investigation shows that Hullet, of Deer Lake Drive, was driving his 2001 Ford Windstar van westbound on Bell Road at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop for the red traffic light at Blue Hole Road, striking Kurtz’2004 Chevrolet Suburban and a Ford Escape. Kurtz, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his SUV. He died at the scene.
The Ford Windstar van and the Ford Escape then collided with three other vehicles in the eastbound lanes of Bell Road. Hullet, his adult female passenger, and four children ages 2-6 (none of whom were properly secured in the van), were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford Escape, Tommy Huff, 44, of Antioch, was treated and released. No one else was transported.
