New massive mixed-use development on the East Bank could be in the works

A massive 105-acre mixed-use development could be coming to East Nashville’s riverfront property.  The tract of land, across the Cumberland from Germantown, is bounded on the north by I-65 and on the east by I-24.  On the south edge of the property is Top Golf, an under-construction driving range/music venue that faces onto Jefferson St.

Nashville Business Journal is reporting that Monroe Investment Partners, already the owner of 60 acres at the site, is under contract to buy an additional 45 acres from two industrial companies.  This new acquisition is sandwiched between the existing tract and the Top Golf site.

There are no known plans on how the site will be developed yet.  Currently, the area is occupied by industrial clients.

Ideas abound on how the site can be a part of greater transportation connections.  Tony Gonzalez thinks a pedestrian bridge should go in to connect this site to Germantown.  It might also be a good time to extend Cleveland St across I-24 to create more connections to the area.  And it would also make a great stop for a water taxi, with connections to downtown, Nissan Stadium, Opry Mills, North Nashville, and so on.
